Creating communication between two CPUs (315 - ET200S)

Hallo,

I’m trying to set up the communication between two different CPUs. The CPUs are located very close to each other so we could connect them directly with Profinet cable. I am using TIA V13 update 4.

I have read PROFINET with STEP 7 V13 Function Manual but I could only establish communication between two CPUs if there are in the same Project (with IO Device function). I’m wondering how I can connect two CPUs with two complete different IP ranges. Ex. CPU_1 = 145.28.41.4 – CPU_2 = 168.187.25.4.

Unfortunately we cannot use the PN/PN Coupler! (as i know it from past)

I will be very thankful for any suggestions!

which PLC exactly, please Ordernumber/MLFB.

If you use different IP Ranges then it is not possible, for PROFINET the PLC's must in the same subnet/IP Range.

CPU_1 = 151-8FB01-0AB0

CPU_2 = 315-2FJ14-0AB0

Ok then I have to scenarios:

1.     The both PLC are in the same IP Range and can be connected with PROFINET directly

2.     The both PLC are in the same IP Range and are both connected to the Industrial network.

How do I get them talking to each other?

for both scenarios you can:

I/O coupling (PROFINET IO)
One PLC is configured as i-Device with I/O Transferareas.
This I-Device configuration can exported/installed as GSDML file and then inserted in the station of the other PLC.
Now you can transfer the data between the PLC's with this Transferareas.

S7-Communication:

here you can use the command BSend/BRECV, USend/URECV, Put/get

so those are steps I did so far: (see attachment)

I uploaded both projects to my PLCs and both are running without any error on display (no Red LED).

At the Slave PLC I have declared the I/O for communication at I100 and Q100 (1 Byte only). But I cannot find the way how can I tell the Master PLC (315) where are those IO. 

What am I still missing?

First off all thanks for your time and help!

This was what I was missing!! Device view window was somehow very to the right….

Anyway this working now with two PLC and I will try to do it with three….

But I have 2 another questions to this topic.

1.

We do definitely need to add OB83 otherwise transmission to Run form one PLC will stop the other one. Do I understand it correctly? Or do I still have some bug?

2.

We have got two possibilities (as you described before the other one would be S7-Connection)

How do I know what to choose (which is better).

I have got now a problem with communication between three PLCs

I've created three different projects and in every project the PLC is set to IO Device mode. 

I can generate the GSD file from each PLC and integrate it in the two other Projects. 

Unfortunately I can somehow assign the correct IO in Device manager window.

I need to do so to ensure that if one PLC fells out then the other two can still talk to each other.

So the solution with one Master and two Slaves is not possible because If Master fells out then the two others PLC cannot talk to teach other anymore.

What should I do in this case?

hi,

this is a problem when you work with IDevice. When the IO-controller is not working, the whole communication stops.

If you want the 3 PLC´s communicating to each other, you have to establish connections between them. When one CPU is down, the other two are still talking.

So establish S7-connections and use "USEND/URCV" or "BSEND/BRCV", or "PUT, GET"
