Hi, I have to use a 3rd party instrument in a PCS7 V7.1 system. I need to create channel and module driver for it. PS: The question relate to the PCS7 Library for Encoders question. |

Hi, My question related to 3rd party HW elements. See the SIMATIC Process Control System PCS 7 Compendium Part D – Operation and Maintenance (V8.1) under chapter "4.1 Use of new hardware". It says: "For SIMATIC PCS 7 only explicitly approved HUPs may be used (Hardware Upgrade So what can I actually do with these HW elements? In my case I have a 3rd party encoder. How can I generate module drivers for it? If I have to create one manually, is there a guide how to do that? |

Hello MicroMen, I have no experience with encoders. I can give only some general information. Of course Siemens says only approved HUPs may be used, this is simply because that's for what they "garantee" and for what they give support... Sooner or later most PCS7 users will come to the situation that they have to use a device wich is not released for PCS7. It is clear that for those devices you will not have support by the driver wizard (and, in my opinion, that's all). You have different possibilities in that case:
Best regards... |

Also "Experts" are pleased about feedback. Please don't send support requests as PM. Questioners who don't follow up their thread will be put to my list of users to be ignored. |
