ahmedmae94 Posts: 103 Rating: (11)	how are you all, I have 2PCs , I want the following , 1st PC :computer name (ETGENG061) , with winccflexible installed on it , I WANT TO MAKE IT SERVER 2nd PC :computer name (ETGENG06) , with winccflexible installed on it , I WANT TO MAKE IT CLIENT I have logged on this FAQ https://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/llisapi.dll?func=cslib.csinfo&objId=31198863&objAction=csOpen&nodeid0=16502374&lang=en&siteid=cseus&aktprim=0&extranet=standard&viewreg=WW I have executed all steps word by word , I have downloaded the sample projects in the FAQ and opened it on my PCs. my problems in client PC: 1) first picture : I don't have tree to choose symbol from it. but there is RED TRIANGLE. when you ask about the symbol already exists in the picture , I will say this symbols already added by SIEMENS programmer. now when I want to add any symbols , I CAN'T!!! 2)second picture : I don't have tree at ETGENG061 (SERVER) to choose OPC SERVER NAME from it someone may recommend to check connections between 2 PCs 1) i use cross over ethernet cable between 2 PCs 2)I opened START>>RUN>> write PING (another computer IP), the result is the PC sent and receive successfully, this result repeated in two PCs . hint:- I have no PLC right now , but I use simulation so I have downloaded PLCSIM OPC , made setup for it and write IPs of server and client PCs as shown in the pictures in the attachments please help me to solve this problems thanks Attachment DCOM.zip (190 Downloads)

First of all I would recommend to you to try this document, which is part of the WinCC flexible CD. You may find it at the directory: <your CD Drive>:\CD3\Support\OPC\ Check it out. ahmedmae94 Posts: 103 Rating: (11)	first of all , I want to thank you alot because you are the ONLY one who response to my difficult question . second , I have already executed all step in the pdf you uploaded to me. third, my question , have i to use any additional software to configure my network .. like SIMATIC NET??? in the server PC i use simulation in the simatic manager so I make setup to SW called PLCSIM OPC , writing in it IP for both server & client is that true or false???? THE MAIN PROBLEM IS :- wincc flexible in the client PC CAN'T SEE OPC SERVER to choose tags from it. please help me to solve this problem. thanks in advance

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Hello, well, you know that the PLCSIM OPCis a "Free"-ware which is not supported by SIEMENS so we have a little problem. To start with I wonder, do you know if this OPC Server supports DCOM at all? Some OPC Server only support COM for the local use. I admit I do not know how to handle this Free PLCSIM OPC Server to work with DCOM. Would you have a WinAC installed instead at your PC you would be in a much easier situation. I do not know what you plan to do with your configuration? OK, let us see it from another perspective. Did you ever try to check theexistence of your Free PLCSIM OPC Server as an object in the COM area of your local PC and if it is detectable form remote by the use of some DCOMCFG or some OPC Client applications? Usually is the use of SIMATIC NET Software in a case like yours not required, at least not for the use of COM or DCOM . By the way, does your PLCSIM OPC Server work with Libnodave? WinAC RTX -- Configuring and programming communication -- Configuring communication to S7 What connections are there between the version designations in WinAC RTX? Best regards, Wizard

ahmedmae94 Posts: 103 Rating: (11)	DEAR , Wizard you don't need to apologize , I need your help, first >>I read your FAQs carefully and executed it , but I don't know how can I invest this information in my problem (server client issue)?? please I need more description... second>> I need to know what's the difference between WinAC & WinAC RLX in the FAQ he is talking about WinAC but I have WinAC RLX !!!! can WinAC RLX solve the problem of server client , or not ??? thanks

Wizard Diamond Expert Joined: 4/24/2006 Last visit: 11/6/2024 Posts: 8768 Rating: (1170)	Dear ahmedmae94, Perhaps this link, might give you some information about the difference between WinAC and WinAC RTX: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/6919918 Well, instead of using PLCSIM OPC, you could use WinAC RTX as a CPU to connect to. The WinCC flexible RT 'Server' could connect to WinAC RTX and should be an OPC server for the other WinCC flexible RT 'Client'. Best regards, Wizard
