Differences between Professional vs Unified

WinCC Runtime Professional vs WinCC Unified PC Runtime Advanced is clear. I am a bit surprised, because you are very active user in the WinCC Unified conference. WinCC Unified PC Runtime is almost the same as on WinCC Unified Comfort panel. Since it's running on a PC the performance will be better and more and other options are available, but the engineering is the same. WinCC Professional is a system, separated to WinCC Unified and WinCC Advanced. It was started as SCADA system as a replacement for WinCC V7 but never reached it. Kind regards Stefan

Speaking of PC when would it be better to use Unified Runtime or Professional Runtime? between them in an application. Or better when to use unified or when to use Professional? I don't have Professional installed to test, that's why I only have Unified and I didn't find it in the documentation. And now version 18 is coming, so it might change a few more things.

It is designed for operations management rather than for operating a machine. SIMATIC WinCC Unified is a completely new visualization system that is scalable from a small operator panels to a SCADA system. It does not yet have the functional scope of existing SCADA systems, but the development is progressing rapidly. The choice between SIMATIC WinCC Unified and SIMATIC WinCC Professional depends on the application. In the area of factory automation, Siemens will go for WinCC Unified. In the area of process automation, I don't know at the moment which visualization system will be used together with SIMATIC PCS 7 or SIMATIC PCS neo. I would therefore opt for SIMATIC WinCC Unified.
