I have a project, where we need to plug a calibration tool onto the machine. This tool needs to be sent in for calibration so it's calibrated for us to calibrate with.

The problem is that this tool is Profinet, and when we unplug it, the Hardware configuration is not correct anymore. Is there a way to disable a port on a scalance switch, without downloading hardware? Is it possible to disable or enable the port form software?

Or maybe the question should be, if it is possible to switch topology from the code?

you might be asking the wrong question. The PROFINET controller has a scan list of devices to expect values from. Your device, which needs calibration, is also part of that poll- or scan list. What you need to do before removing it physically, you need to disable (inhibit) it in the poll- or scan list as well. This way the controller knows, that the device is no longer there and therefore, its removal doesn't cause mayhem.
When putting it back on, you simply activate the device again and have the values you had previously.

You need to call DP_ACT_DEACT (system function) to deactivate and activate the device.
