displaying exponential in wincc

Can you help us how we can do this Thanks please help Hello, I am still thinking of necessity of such as requirement.But if it is really necessary, that possible by using some basic math functions to reach the goal.The key point is how to find packed data in binary format.You can start from data stored in Exponent: Value:= (-1^sign) * (M) * (2 ^ (Exponent-127)) Also Check it here.The answer is satisfactory with a bit error but can be rectified. sapnanavre Posts: 55 Rating: (0)	Dear Expert Thanks for replying We are getting 0 to 10v analog value from vacuum gauge (using s7300 plc) that we have scaled and converted in exponential value in TIAv11 and its showing the values as desired. we are able to display that values in i/o field in wincc upto 1x10^-2 but the value less than this it shows 0.00e000. When we changed the display format 9.999999999e it shows upto 1x10^-9 but it is showing the value upto 9 decimal format and we need only upto 2 decimal point because it requires more space by i/o field to display upto 9 decimal point. I have explained the whole scenerio.Hope now you will understand the problem. Thanks please help

Right now we are getting the values like 1.142324500e^-9 which are correct upto 9 decimal point in i/o feild but we need to display the values like 1.14e^-9 which are correct upto only 2 decimal point. one more thing in wincc explorer when we place the mouse pointer at the tag during runtime it shows the value as desired i.e. only upto two decimal point(1.14e^-9). don't know why its not showing the same in i/o feid. Please help Thanks

Please help Thanks Hello, While working on a case in industry we know before assigning a value to I/O field the variable's range.Normally ,the variation you have mentioned may happen rarely in real case.But, still a programming solution to create structure you want (1.14 e -9 ) from the bit pattern of a floating point data type.I have done it with STEP 7 with some basic math function and just knowing bit pattern of floating point data type.That can be done easily in TIA Portal. All that is in the image is the 'T MD108' instruction to transfer the ACCU1 value into MD108. Brad.
