Does anyone have any good advice for learning the Siemens S71200 PLC?

Hello there,

I'm very much intrested in learning new things and now I came up with this siemens and now I want to study it too but I really don't know how and where so I need help with this where do I learn it and how and how much will it cost and for how long will it last and I hope its not that expensive.

Any suggestions??

The 1200's start at $500. The lower the number the fewer IO and features. Great for single station jobs with a couple of Profi-Net data heavy peripherals. (Camera, Robot, etc.) where the station may be a press, leak tester, shear, or something.

I suppose an overall steps approach is good place to start¹. Ladder logic is based on industrial schematics so maintenance personnel could follow what was keeping the system from working correctly. It is a standard and most PLC's are programmed with ladder². But in the long run somethings can only be done in a higher level language like SCL. Keep in mind SCL is a Siemens only language and specific to the class of PLC you are writing it for, most things however, do move across class (300, 400, 1200, 1500). Also, both of these are compiled to STL (I know, confusing right?). STL is the actual instructions to the Motorola processor, It is not very readable.
