Hello! The FM350/450 is a module designed to read in pulses. Typically the are from a incremental encoder. On each turn this encoders send a fixed number of pulses. e.g. 1024 pulses per turn. There are encoders with one pulse track and a digital signal telling the direction or (more common) two puls track (with 90° shift). The decoder (e.g. FM450) can count the pulses and calculate the position, the speed and the turning direction of the encoder. In your case it's not the speed of a drive, but a flow. The rest is the same. All the physics you can find here (select technical data) You may use 5V (RS422) or -+15 to -+30V Pulse signals. The encoder supply can be used to supply power to the sensor, if you flowmeter can work with max 300mA it will work. Ifyourflowmeter does not meter the direction of the flow, you can use a single puls signal (without direction information, like a "one track encoder" ). For the FM450 the flow you have to meter is like a speed of a drive that has to be metered. 7500 pulses /h --> nominal flow, 1500 pulses/h --> 200% flow (I think you will have to enter the paremeters in pulse /s so it's 2,08 puls /s --> 100% flow) |
