Help me to select cheaper S7 1200 PLC to change device from S7 1500.

Hello Experts,

I have made a project earlier with S7 1500 PLC  and I have a enquiry for a new similar project.

S7 1500 (CPU 1515-2 PN)  Model No-6ES7 515-2AM01-0AB0 +12mb memory card

Due to the new project budget, I need to go with cheap PLC to get the project.

I supposed to buy S7 1200 PLC and change the device in old project program from S7 1500 to S71200.

Could you please suggest me a S7 1200 PLC for the attached program memory requirement.

I have attached S7 1500 PLC program resource memory usage status. The new PLC S7 1200 shall be able to have at least those memory.

Please suggest me a cheaper PLC.

Inserting a program whom is downloaded in S7-1500 with S7 -1200 is not recomended, because you may face a problems with work memory..

I recommend to use S71511 CPU.. becuase it is cheapper from the used CPU

If I go with S7 1500 PLC, I need to buy all ai,di,do ALL ARE for S7 1500.Its too costly and out of my budget.

S7 1200 PLC and its components DI,DO,AI are cheaper.

Also If I go with S7 1200 PLC, I can eliminate 1No ET200MP and connect all devices in one rack.

Is there any other option for cheaper PLC?

You could consider a ET 200SP CPU, for example a CPU 1512SP-1 PN, 200KB Prog./1MB Data (6ES7512-1DK01-0AB0).

The price of both can be similar, but the  ET 200SP is part of the S7-1500 PLC family, with much more processing power than a S7-1200, the capacity of setting up many more modules on the rack (64 I/O modules max); and there would be no need to greatly modify the S7-1500 program you use 

For an even cheaper ET 200SP PLC you could look at a CPU 1510SP-1 PN, 100KB Prog./750KB Data (6ES7510-1DJ01-0AB0).

64 AI's is going to crush the space on a few DIN rails on s7-1200.  If you use 8 AI modules, you need 8 of them.  The high end S7-1200's only accept 8 modules max.  Then you are out of module space for the DI/DO (DQ).

You can use s7-1200's as remote I/O type devices by configuring them as I-Devices.

Hi,

U can use 1217 CPU with signal module for DO & 8 AI modules.

In case of memory issue, you may use indirect addressing in AI blocks. Also u can increase delay for reading few non time critically important AIs.

I think code memory + work memory together cross 150kb.

 You can't change it, you need to add a new cpu, and delete the old. Before deleting, copy the program blocks to the new cpu. 1510-1PN CPU might be enough for your needs.
