stumbled on this topic by accident, maybe have look at this No experience with it but might be worth a look? On the other hand, it's quite strange (at least for me) to look for a Siemens panel for doing complete Modbus Master/Slave communications. If a Siemens panel is not a must in this case, I would search for other brands, more specialized in Modbus protocols. |

Hello SolutionFinder, Here is my suggestion by considering your minimum price requirement: 1. HMI: - Any desktop PC that matches your memory requirement: ----- Estimated Price = $300 - LCD Monitor with screen resolution of 640X480 OR 800X600 OR 1024X768 OR 1280X1024 OR 1600X1200 OR 1440X900 OR 1680X1050 OR 1920X1080 OR 1920X1200 : ----- Estimated Price = $100 - USB Touch Screen Overlay: Google it or see this link http://www.cyclotouch.com.au/product_info.php?products_id=2501 : ----- Estimated Price = $140 - SIMATIC PC Adapter USB : ----- Estimated Price = $400 ----- ---------> Total Estimated Price = $940 2. Modbus: - Search for ModBus master/slave device have a look at this site http://www.hms.se/products/abc.shtml Now I hope you are satisfied with the HMI but you might have the following technical questions: How to program the modbus send/receive? Ø Install ModBus master server (I guess you will get the CD with modbus device) , then you can program it directly from WinCC script. 2. How to program HMI? and How HMI work? Ø Using WinCC flexible runtime as a device type and generate FWX file. On HMI PC install WinCC flexible runtime software with Automation license manager. Mount USB Touch Screen Overlay and install driver. Install SIMATIC PC Adapter USB driver and connect to your PLC. Ø How the user uses the program? You have to copy FWX file to some location and make it to automatically run during the boot (see my attachment on details). Hope helps and note that I have just done such kind of project except the modbus part and I have attached here this project thus extract to your desktop, run as administrator on Install.bat file and to exit press SHIFT five times.
