How Many Blocks can be monitored simultaneously in S7-300 / S7-400

Navnag Platinum Member Joined: 11/21/2007 Last visit: 9/27/2023 Posts: 2321 Rating: (304)	Hi All I have Three questions on S7-300/400 : 1) Is there a guideline on How ManyBlocks ( FCs / FBs / DBs ) can be monitored simultaneously ( In Block Status ) in various S7-300/400 CPUs. ? 2) In S7-400 is there anydifference in no of blocks that can be monitored depending upon whether ERPOM or RAM is installed in the CPU ? 3) It is possible to adjust no of PG/OP connections in the "Communication Settings" option in Hardware configuration. I could not find any such option in S7-400 CPU. Is there any such option in S&-400 CPUs ? Best Regards Navnag

Sydney Gold Member Joined: 1/4/2008 Last visit: 3/8/2023 Posts: 703 Rating: (96)	Hello 1. don't knowwhere it could be found 2. monitoring is done online in work memory so doesn't depend on the type of used load memory 3. If you look on the properties of CPU3xx there is maximum of connection resources depending on CPU used from 8 to 32 and you can reserve some connection resources for OP/PG/S7Basic. With CPU4xx you have the maximal connection resources from 150 (CPU412) to hundreds and there is no need to reserve them. Regards Sydney

Best Regards Navnag 1: CPU 300 provide 1 monitoring trigger CPU 300 "new generation" since 2009 provide 2 monitoring trigger CPU 400provide 2 monitoring trigger 2: No.

(IBN-Service told you the last info about last version of S7-300 CPU ) Each online monitoring block takes 2 breack points. So for S7-300 you can look only one FC/FB, for S7-400 only 2 FB/FC. This could be easy to check. The other story is if we speak about VAT tables. But I am afraid you can't find document how many tables is possible to see on the same time. I tried with 5 and I hadn't any problem. But the sixth VAT table... Best regards Hristo Mihalev

We are testing our system at the customer, and work with two software engineers. WhenI monitortwo FB's my colleague is not able to monitor a FB. Is there a function in Step 7 proffesional that closes the first monitored FB if you start monitoring another one? So that you are always monitoring one block a time? (using a 317CPU, progamming with step 7 prof) Thanks in advance!
