Most of the experience is a result of the field and little of the office work. The more projects you contribute. The more experience you gain

So far I have converted several S5 systems to S7, commissioned a hydroelectrical power plant main automation system, designed several WinCC and Intouch SCADAs and Flexible HMI, revisioned on-duty systems (these are my nightmares) and many others. Until now I have learned 2 things: 1- You shouldn't trust to anything when you are on the field. 2- No matter how long you work in this sector, you may spend hours in front of the computer just because you didn't marked a mere checkbox :) Sometimes I feel exhausted by the stress, sometimes I feel like I'm doing the best job on the world. It is good to hear there are many survivors that have over 10-15 years experience :)

I like this automation field because what I develop in office I could actually see it running on site. It is challenging filed in all way. Only Smart one can handle all hurdles that come on the way while designing and commissioning. This is my first post. By the way very nice replies from all experts. You all are Smart. I was an intern for 2 years working with Siemens PLCs, although most of the time I was actually working with the HMIs and WinCC Flexible. Most of the automation work I did over there was for an automobile manufacturing plant. My new job works extensively with Siemens PLCs, but we also use a good deal of Allen Bradley PLCs, so now I'm working with TIA Portal and RSLogix 5000 in the same day! The work here focuses on SCADA and wastewater facilities.

I remember, that during studies, we have had to create one test program with SIMATIC S3! - my 1st S5 application: 1989 - then turn-around, to some microprocessor programming for next 10 years (Motorola M68000; Siemens 80C166,a little bitof DSP processor programming (It was from AD,but Ido not remember the type!), then a little bit of Microchip;at first in assembler,later on in C; mainly basic SW developmentfordrives: frequency inverters (at first V/f, then also vector control,....), then application of drives, a lot of very interesting stuff.. - in year 2000 returned to automation, with S7and all kinds of visualistaion - stillvery active in all kinds of automation and el.eng. ... - passed Siemens Solution Partner verification for S7 and WinCC in 2009, 2011(I was the oldest guy there!!!) - and finally,I am still learning, from every days work and also from all of you, and I hope todo it so at least for next 25 years! and remember: ALLWAYS HAVE FUN! uel123.

But My First Programming with Fortarn 77 was in 1986 and GwBasic Program in 1988 & First DataBase Programming With dBase III in 1992 , and with ADABAS NATURAL From Siemens AG from 1993 to 1998 After i Started in Automation Department : About 5 year S5 Programming In 5 Big Project (Steel Making With 8 EAF & 4 LF & 4 Casting Machin) From 2002 Until Now PCS7 Programming (Petro Chemical Plant 2 Project , Steel Making 4 Project) (CFC + SFC + SCL) (Project Executive Manager) Electrode Regulation Software With PCS7 + S7 (CFC , SCL) with 3 other expert. In 07 July 2012 we commision this System in LF4 of One Big Steel Complex. Now I wish to corporate with German Company like As SIEMENS. But i don't know how!!!
