How to control shutters using LOGO + Stepper Motor?

i want to develop an automatic position control system using Siemens logo PLC. ihave a shutter in my machine which i want to open and close in 5 steps with the help of 5 switches each switch attached to a specific state. I am planning to use a stepper motor for this operation and a rotary encoder for feedback but i am not able to program it please somebody help me thanks in advance...

You need to give more information:

1st. the stepper motor, does this one has it own electronic controller and we can simple give it a up/down signal ?????

If not then a simple motor with gear can do the job.

2nd what will be the interface to select the open positions, i mean do you have a rotary switch that is used to select the opening position or is this time controlled, if so inform us about the stepping cycle.

3rd you can use a fast counter input to count the pulsing of the encoder and based on this counting up/down you know the position. If you do this then also include a counter reset, as an example full closed limit switch active and a reset switch pushed will reset the counter to zero.
