I'm doing some tests with this and I was able to execute an 'INSERT' query without any problem.

I cannot however understand how to execute a 'SELECT' query. I've been checking in the MSSQL Logs and the query seems to be processed, but i can't find the result in the PLC.

The documentation doesn't talk about SELECTs at all.

Is it even possible?

How do you know if you are logged in? 

I connect and only see 7002 in the status but can see the program 

Went to fbstate 7

Not very good at state machine 

I can log into SQL but there is no feedback to let me know off that block whether it is successfully logged in.

I then ran an insert command and checked I updated the DB fine

Some hard points though:

Not sure how to send strings (syntax error when adding in the SQL command)

There isn't a "receive data" when executing a SELECT command

I can see the statrcv DB with a lot of gibberish and info I am looking, for but again not sure how to pull this out in a meaningful way.

Great function but a lot development still I reckon.

ANYONE get any further than this???

BTW. I am using V14.1 TIA Portal and generated system blocks as per one of the previous posts (Thanks for that ) and then just used V14.1 to upgrade a 1215DC/DC/DC PLC with firmware 4.4. 

I agree it's very awkward etc. I'm going to crack on though as I can see a lot of potential. I can see individual characters for example my DB name is Gaz_Test and I can see a G then a null char then a then null etc. 

I reckon it's the TDS (I don't know much of this) protocol, but at least I think I can map it.

Hopefully between all of us we can get this thing on the go.

Is the database encrypted? Or maybe it is a problem with big-endian of the S7-1200 in comparison with little-endian of the S7-1500.
Just a thought... have you captured any response data with Wireshark?

Also some functions don't work on S7-1200, like archive.

• Do not use the archive functionality

• Comment out program line 386 of the "LSql_Microsoft" block. To do this, open the block and click on "Edit type". Now find program line 386 with the "WriteToArrayDB" instruction and comment it out.

I'm pretty sure the PLC is connected to database, since the UPDATE query gets executed. From the MSSQL logs i've seen that also the SELECT query is processed by the DB server.

I've found out this syntax is correct:

"SqlConfig".command:= 'select * from "dbo"."table" where ID = 123';

"SqlConfig".command := 'insert into "dbo"."table" VALUES (1,$'TEST$',122,34.5,4444)'; // for values type:                                   //BOOL,STRING,INT,REAL,DOUBLEINT

 In the insert i need to put 1 for a bool element, and strings need the $' escaping

Still no idea on how to retrieve the SELECT result in the PLC. I'll try to do some tests with wireshark

I do not have wirshark or know how to use it.

I am connected to the server though and can do the following:

- Send numbers

-Send Strings 

Query in server manger shows the insert commands working, although SQL uses 'ABC' to recognise a string and I couldn't get it to work using siemens strings as a ' is an illegal syntax.

I then converted the sql command into bytes and did it that way.

Still working on the SELECT Command but thanks for the input so far.
