How to generate FC or DB block with Excel

Hello, Short answers to your questions: No,it is only possible to develop a FC/DB in an text editor and then generate a block in STEP 7 ,but a block has its meaning in project, inside an S7 Program! About Scripting in WINCC,Please find more in this TAG (WinCC Scripting) from our experts in WINCC. WinCC Scripting: VBS, ANSI-C, VBA There is a big difference between blocks in a PLC and scripts in WINCC.The later is executed in a PC with different resources(perhaps higher level) while PLC codes should be concise and close to machine level(mostly). What is true though is that the spreadsheet can not be saved directly to the code block. You need to use an import procedure or copy-paste. Where there is a structure that needs to be repeated, the text functions of a spreadsheet can be of much help. Magica, I am however unsure if this is what you had I mind. w

But it is possible to import list of variable in an excel sheet to a data block. How do you import an Excel list with STEP 7 variables into a data block? Hope this helps.

I'm wondering whether it's possible to generate programming source code in Excel.(maybe for STL source file).because If I have a great many variable values,I think it will be easier to create them in Excel. And if it's possible, can you give me more details how to do it.Because I didn't have such experience before. Thanks in advance.

Is it possible for you to give me more details about how to generate the source code for my FC/DB using the spreadsheet in the EXCEL. Have you tried it before?can you give me an example. Hello Magica, As a user of SIMATIC product , when I hear some thing about an FC block, It only remindes me of on object in Blocks folder.I am sure again the only channel to make blocks would be SIMATIC manager itself via allowable interfaces to external sources. Personally , I prefer other text editors such as Notpad from MS or NotPad++ that sounds a more convinient solution for programmers.There is a template for SCL and STL code blocks.You can create your template for FBs,FCs,OBs and... .Sample can be found in tables 3.3 and 3.4 respectively for STL and SCL blocks in 3rd revision of Hans Berger reference on STL/SCL.Develop all you want , save it as e.g .SCL file and import it in STEP 7 (Or even TIA Portal). If you are seeking for any solution in MS Excel, you should create that structure and your program with some labours while using a humble text editor saves you time and you can concentrate more on your comlex logic.
