How to open *.zap19 files with TIA Portal V18

Hi,

I have backup of soft starter project file with an extention of *.zap19 ,How ever I could not open the file with TIA Portal V18 .

Is there any way to open *.zap19 files with TIA Portal V18 .

The ZAP part tells us that it is an archived TIA Portal project. Renaming the ZAP19 to ZIP should make it possible for the Windows built in zip tool to extract the contents. Else an application like the freeware 7ZIP will extract the project without making any change to the extension.

The 19 in the ZAP19 tells us it is a TIA Portal V19 project. TIA Portal V18 is not able to work with projects generated by TIA Portal V18 V19.

Yes, you can.  Launch TIA Portal V18, and then forget you opened it.

Now launch TIA Portal V19 (install it if it is not already installed, and install the latest V19 update).  Open the project in the most recently launched TIA Portal - but in the back of your mind you know you started this process by starting up V18...

With the zap19 (v19) project open, you can use a dual monitor setup and manually recreate in V18 whatever you see in that open project on the other screen in that other portal software.  If you need PLC tags, UDTs, SCL, DBs, you can export those to text files and make them importable in V18.

Split from Program upload with different TIA Portal versions.

Open the archive as if it were version 19, and then allow V19 to upgrade the project to v18.

Unless you want to keep the project in v18.

Then the process is to install v18 first.  Then open the archive in V18.
