How to pick one bit value from a word

I need to visualize the position of some gear levers on a KPT700 Basic panel. The visualization has already been made in WinCC 7.4 SCADA.

Please also see the attached screenshots

The bit that contains the information about the gear position is bit 1 in a status word for each possible position of the individual levers.

So:

The lever 1 will be show in position 1 if bit 1 in the status word for lever 1 in position 1 is high. 

The lever 1 will be show in position 2 if bit 1 in the status word for lever 1 in position 2 is high.

The lever 1 will be show in position 3 if bit 1 in the status word for lever 1 in position 3 is high.

The lever 2 will be show in position 1 if bit 1 in the status word for lever 2 in position 1 is high.

ETC.

I can pick the status word in the HMI tags list - but how do I pick it so that when bit 1 is 1 the color is black and when bit 1 is 0 the color is (backgruond) grey?

 No - unfortunately not - I cannot be sure of the status on the other bits.

I would like to select bit 1 from each of the status words - just like it is done in the WinCC 7.4 display (in the screenshot).

If this is not possible in WinCC flexible I would like to get a tip for the easiest way to make logic (S7 classic) in the PLC to extract the 30 boolean values from the 30 words - then I will transfer only these to the flex panel. Is that what Jay already showed me - in other words:

 Actually you don't need to make any changes in the PLC program. You can simply call the bit like I suggested in the HMI tags section, it can read directly the bit frim that without any need to update in PLC.

Then DB1208.DBW0 bit 1 = DB1208.DBX0.1

Can you confirm?

You can test by your self, how the word acts, when different bits is active and vice versa. Here's a couple of photos for you to see:

When word has the value of "1", you can see what bit is active in the word.

When bit 0.1 is active, the decimal value of the word is "512".

This applies when you use a "value" to select the visualisation.

The other way is to use "bit" of tag.

It will be difficult for me to get a spare controller to play with and it will also be difficult to go online on the "live controller"during the programming.

So can I use the VAT tables to see the values even when just simulating?

I assume the easiest (perhaps only) way to simulate / get the values is with PLCSIM?

 Simulation is the easyest way of playing around and testing new ideas. VAT tables work with simulation also.
