How we can download program to muti-PLCs in one time

Yeapoy Cao Posts: 7 Rating: (0)	Dear Expert, I have a case for the AUTO assembly line, that used 280 pieces of PLC S7-315-2PN/DP,they are connect by profinet in each others through ethernet switch, also they are use same PLC program for each PLC.the question is : it need download to PLC 280 times when the program modified. do we have any other solution to reduce the PLC download times? thank you!

And I can't believe program is the same if all PLCs are connected on the same net. All PLCs have at least different MPI, DP and ethernet addresses. So if they are communicating with each other then program should be different. If you speak about only some blocks then ok, they are the same, but I simultaneous download to multi PLCs is not possible. I'm not 100% sure though.

If yes then check this, right click on the project name as shown in the attachement fig1. and you will get compile & download window Fig2. You can download from this window, I think because each project will have diffrent address, right. Have fun... Attachment Compile7Download.zip (282 Downloads)

Hello Yeapoy Cao, Yes option for downloading of blocks in multiple PLCs is possible. But there are some considerations in that. Are you gonna have one project with only one station configured and you are gonna make clones of 280 numbers? or Are you gonna have one project and multiple stations configured within that project? In use case 1 i don't see some way to download program blocks formany CPUs at a time. Whereas in use case 2, you have the possibility to download program blocks of multiple CPUs. I don't think all the CPUs will be downloading in parallel, but atleast you don't need to press download for each and every configured station. To do so,In STEP 7 v5.5 select the project name in the project tree and then go to the PLC menu -> select compile and download objects. All the stations will be listed in that dialog box. There you can find the online status of every CPU if it is hooked in the network properly also you will be provide with options so that you can choose whichever CPUs needs to be downloaded. NOTE: As Darius said, for the very first time all the CPUs will have only the factory loaded settings The option which i suggested may help you after parameterizing the CPU's once.

Hardware and connections can be downloaded separately but itis not possible to choose which blocks you want to download. All blocks will be downloaded, including DB's which can lead to undesirable actions. Kind regards, BV

Didn't know that possibility as I almost all time work on single projects. Its good to know

Yeapoy Cao Posts: 7 Rating: (0)	Dear Mr. Daius, this kind concpet is exist on VOLKSWAGEN GEMANY serval years. the automotive assembly line are divided to 1024 jobs , each PLC are excute 8 jobs, the index of each PLC are difined by RFIF( SIEMENS RF-300), so the program are same, it is not on ly one block same,also for hardware configuration, prgram are same. one deffirent point is the IP address. thank you for you reply, and I will try to reduce the work for donwload workload for repeat actions. thank you!

Yeapoy Cao Posts: 7 Rating: (0)	Dear Mr.Ganes, I can intergrate all the PLC project on one project tree, it is easy to do, and it is a simple solution for that. but I can not post the annother question in PLC conferences, the problem is HOW TO download the same project to 280 pieces of MP277. because each PLC are connect a MP277 through ethernet switch , it met same problem for download .
