I dont get a new address after configure network

luisss749 Posts: 10 Rating: (0)	Hello, i have a problem with the network configuration, after modify the interfaces file and after reboot i dont get a new address, looks like the entire row where the address should appear is missing. Attachment putty2.JPG (631 Downloads)

AutoGen_2630904 Posts: 71 Rating: (16)	You need to configure a fixed IP address when you connect directly to your computer. Use iot2000setup on the IOT2000 to do so and also give your computer a fixed address in the network adapter configuration.

luisss749 Posts: 10 Rating: (0)	Hello, this question is someting different from the original: if i leave the iot in 192.168.200.1 and modifying my network as below: ip address: 192.168.200.2 subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 default gateway: 192.168.200.1 i can connect with putty and with winSCP, however i realice that each time i get that connection i lost my internet connection, i cant make ping www.google.com (im working in a laptop, internet is from a wifi router, the iot connection is with ethernet cable), can you helpme with this problem? should i change to a fixed ip address my iot?, can you give me an example of how to configure my network? Regards LS

luisss749 Posts: 10 Rating: (0)	Hi bergmanu, im using the default ip address of my board (my knowledge in networks is practically zero), the board is an iot2020, i took the network configuration from the youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T_NzQB-3nBU&t=405s, also i realize that if i let my network as: ip address: 192.168.200.2 subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 default gateway: blank i can get internet connection, but still i cant make ping www.google.com, im getting the bad address message. also i cant make upkg update and im having problems with node-red installation, (im guess all this problems are connected to the ping problem, am i right?) As a result your Engineering Station, your IOT2020 and your router have to be in the same network! You have a few possibilties to get connection to the internet and via putty: I think the easiest solution is to connect your PC and your IOT2000 to the router, having PC and IOT set to dhcp. Then you have to find out the IP address of the IOT. Best case is that your router has a web interface where you can check the addresses of the connected devices. If you know the IP address or the network of your router you can set a static IP address to your IOT and your PC in the same range. Assuming your router has the IP 192.168.1.1, your IOT has to have i.e 192.168.1.2 and your PC i.e 192.168.1.3 Another possible solution is to use a WIFI USB Stick. Then you can use the ethernet port only for being connected to the PC and the USB Stick to be connected to the router/internet Best regards!
