Installing openvpn in IoT2040

I want to run a openvpn server on the IoT2040.

I've been trying to install openvpn in the IoT2040 inside the example image (example-V2.1.3.wic). After setting up the IoT for internet access (repos, etc), I've noticed that I need (in this order):

- openssl
$ opkg install openssl-dev

- Berkeley DB
$ wget http://download.oracle.com/berkeley-db/db-6.0.20.tar.gz
$ tar -zxvf db-6.0.20.tar.gz
$ cd db-6.0.20/build_unix
$ ../dist/configure
$ make
$ make install

- Linux PAM
$ wget http://linux-pam.org/library/Linux-PAM-1.3.0.tar.bz2
$ tar jxf Linux-PAM-1.3.0
$ cd Linux-PAM-1.3.0
$ ./configure
$ make
$ make install

- openvpn
$ wget https://swupdate.openvpn.org/community/releases/openvpn-2.4.4.tar.gz
$ tar -zxvf openvpn-2.4.4.tar.gz
$ cd openvpn
$ ./configure
$ make
$ make install

In the end, I was required to install systemd in order to start the openvpn service and after a reboot, the Linux would never boot again (had to format the disc and do a clean install).

Is there any other known procedure in order to install an openvpn server in the IoT2040? Am I missing a step? Is there a already built image with openvpn? If not, what is the procedure for doing so?
