Sydney Gold Member Joined: 1/4/2008 Last visit: 3/8/2023 Posts: 703 Rating: (96)	Hello, nice copy of TIM_S5TI fct from Siemens Standard library but witha mistake: you wrote that it converts INT [s] to S5Time but input of your FB is TIME (DW)which is normally based on number of miliseconds. Andthe second part of your FB can give bad values. I know that normally the time base remains from the preset value, but it can be changed when the actual value of timer is changed by another interference so imho it's improper to derive the time base from your setpoint (another thing is that you derive time base again evenwhen it's already definedin the first network). For me is better solution to use functions from Siemens Standard library TIM_S5TI and S5TI_TIM whereas theTIME format is adjusted(sec <-> msec) by linear scaling of Tag in HMI. The remaining value for the S5TI_TIM you can readfrom the timer.

If you use it like in your example it will work (at least the first part) butfor meis strange to have input parameter of FB declared as TIME, named Time_INT and containing number of seconds. It is little bit mismatch and if one will have the type check switched on he can't normally use it. Sorry I have toleave my opinion that your FB is not souseful and usingstandard functions is more proper and easier.

Timer works great, but mproblem is in elapsed time. When I use times less than minute elapsed time shows tenths (TV 30s, elapsed time starts from 300...299...298), when use time greather than minute elapsed time shows seconds (PV 400, elapsed time starts from 400,399,398...). How to display seconds always???

Hello Milosh, Just to add some point in addition to what MicroMan has shared, The problem you are facing comes from the fact that SIMATIC timer has a section to automatically adjust the resolution.If you check the BCD output of timer, you can the last decade of the output to sse how it changes with the longer time spans.To get rid off all these problems, BCD output of Timer instruction is originally in S5TIME data type and can be easily converted to Time variable and more conveniently a value in seconds: BCD Output of Timers-->FC33(from IEC library) -->Divide the result by L#1000 to have output in seconds.
