Hello, I am looking to integrate text from a user text library into some messages. I'm referencing the following Programming with STEP 7 manual page 342 (pic is attached as well). In the example given, entering the place holder @2W%t#Textbib1@ after the message text: Pressure rose, will result in the message "Pressure rose too high" In the example, what significance does the index number 1734 have to do with anything? The placeholder text does not reference the index 1734, so how does it know to pull from the row with index 1734? What if there were another row with index number 1735, how could you grab that row's text? Thank you for any advice : ) Edit: fixed document link |

OK, I've made some progress. But not completely there yet. This forum post from 2008 on text libraries, mentioned block creation in HWConfig. So I thought, maybe a compile and download is required from HWConfig. I had been changing entries in a text library and compiling the AS only to be greeted by a no changes detected message from the compiler. So I wondered how a text library associated with a controller was actually associated with a controller, as it wasnt being sent anywhere, that I could tell anyway... Well, compiling and downloading from HWConfig did the trick. The placeholder @4W%t#MyTextLibrary@ pulled from Index 0 of the text library and inserted the text into the message. So, for text library text to be integrated into messages, you will need to compile and download the HW and the OS. Compilation of the AS is only necessary if the placeholder text in the message configuration has changed. For example from @1W%t#MyTextLibrary@ to @2W%t#MyTextLibrary@. Now I am struggling with understanding the significance of the 1W or 2W. The manual says this is the first associated value for the message. The above linked to post says that, for example, 1W = Process Parameter No 1. ?? So how do I determine what the process parameters are and their associated numbers ?? As and aside, I was only able to find the above linked to post with the search engine Kagi. Google and this forums search did not return the above post with the search "w%t#" |
