MatthewLee Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	Hello, We have a gantrymilling machine with an 840D control and 611 drives. The intermittent 300607fault is on the Z1 axis. The machine uses 2 motors in what I understand as a master/slave configuration with Z1 being the master and Z2 slave. The motors are Seimens 1FT6105-8AF71-4AE1. We have been chasing this issue for many weeks now, the fault will occur if the axis is in motion or if it is stationary. The machine uses a hydraulic counter balance system for the Z axis and it has been verified to be operating correctly. We have inspected the machine ways, axis gearbox, ball screw and bearings and all are within spec. We have replaced the control cards 6SN1118-0DG23-0AA1 with no change. We have also replaced the IR module 6SN1123-1AA00-0DA1 with no change. Wehave verified all electrical connections are good and we have done a MEG OHM test on both of the servo motors and both motorsare 380meg ohm to ground. We have two identical machines and have swapped control and IR modules between the two machines and the issue stays with the problem machine. I have 25 years experiance as a maintenance tech but the majority of my work has been with GE/Fanuc controls and drives, so this is all very new to me. Thank you for your time. Lee

MatthewLee Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	The mechanics is a single ball screw. The screw is stationary with the nut being drivenby a gearbox. This is a single axis and ball screw with two motors driving the gearbox. Wehave looked at backlash andit is very minimal if any.Our management has decided to order a new ball screw, nut and associated bearings on the belief that we are dealing with a mechanical binding problem but the lead time on those parts is 14 weeks. As I stated in the original post these faults have alsooccured when the axis is stationary and that has lead me to believe that we are not dealing with a mechanical issue. When we monitor the Z axis current in a rapid feed mode we see high current on Z1(70%) and low current (15%) on Z2.When we change directions of the axis the current values flip flop and Z2 is high and Z1 is low. Is this correct for a two motor system? Thank you.

In first post you mentioned as Z1 & Z2 has axes has indepedent motors & are configured as Master slave. In 2nd post you mentioned as single axis ball screw driven by two motors coupled to gear box. It makes confusion. So the photographs or hand drawn sketch of entier gantry axes system shall help to understand system clearly. Second point is, the current data, which you have mentioned in your 2nd post doesnot agree with master slave configuration. It seems that Z1 &Z2 axes are configuered as synchronised axes. So please check the configuration once again.Furthermorelet us know the value set in MD 36030 & MD36040.

MatthewLee Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	Attached is a picture of the Z axis mechanical drive. The motor on the left is Z1 and the motor on the right is Z2. This is one axis being driven by two motors.Each motor has a pinion gear attached to the output shaft and those gears drive one common gear on the ball nut. The ball screw is stationary. Ilack the knowledge to determine if this drive is set up as a master/slave configuration or it is sychronous as you suggested.
