The information in the picture is correct, why?

It's simple:

You have 2048 bytes on the process images (adress area) for inputs/outputs.

This is in theory - 2048 bytes * 8 bits = 16384 digital inputs or outputs

Or

2048 bytes / 2 words = 1024 analog outputs or inputs.

Why in theory, but because usually - rarely, someone fills the whole image of the process - secondly -> it is better to leave a margin for inputs and outputs, about 15 percent.
This will guarantee that the PLC will process everything without errors, and during commissioning, you can add something else that was not previously designed.

You are kindly requested to post all the questions at once to make it easier for you to answer.

1. According to your first post - if you have 2048 bytes for entry and 2048 for exit, it does not matter what they consist of.

This process image can include both analog and discrete signals, the main condition is that their total number does not exceed the specified size of the process image.

2. In the case of an increase in the number of modules in the rack for the 300th PLC series, yes it is necessary to use the IM module. There can be 8 modules in a common rack - there are only 4 rack, then count yourself ....

Using ET200 - distributed peripherals - you will get much more modules. However, restrictions on this periphery are also indicated in the manual for the modules.

3. For the 1500 series, everything is similar to the manual - 32 modules and only one rack together with the PLC - further only expansion due to various distributed peripherals, that is ET200.

Usually in my practice - I take any PLC, and the distributed peripheral module - and type in the modules that I need. It is suitable for most technological processes.
