MMC103 HDD problems

Greetings,

I have a issue with a MMC103, SW3.6 - SW3.7 version hard disk.

This MMC has a VALITEK support not GHOST (no USB, just parallel and serial). Original system archive is made by Valitek. So after HDD failure, I have tried to get the system back on the spare HDD by loading the complete HDD content via Ghost from my office PC. Ghost file was made from HDD out of the identical MMC to the broken one. The ghost files were made by removing the HDD-s from MMC-s and connecting it to desktop computer and with a help of HIRENS Boot CD I have made a GHOST archives (from WIN XP). The theory was to get the Simenes system software which would allow ne to load the VALITEK files.

I had no problem loading GHOST file, creating the primary and logical partition (FAT16), so until here everything looks OK with no complications. Problem start after connecting the HDD to the MMC, when SINUMERIK environment starts to pop up different failures regarding SINUMERIK not working properly. The machine window opens after a while, but not working properly.

I have also tried to load GHOST file of complete HDD and than later selecting 6 from boot up menu and loading the VALITEK from the actual machine, and situation is the same.

I have tried with several different HDD-s (I have 2Gb, 10GB, 20GB, 30Gb), we have also purchase a new HDD from SIEMENS (for the appropriate MMC they said) but they have send me a HDD with GHOST support and not VALITEK as I could use with my archives. The interesting fact is, If I connect the loaded HDD to ordinary desktop computer the SINUMERIK environment starts normally, with no warnings etc. But if I connect the HDD to spare PCU50 we own, the behavior is the same like on MMC 103.

Can anybody describe me what is the standard procedure of loading the VALITEK archive to the empty fresh HDD, when system software supports only this option?

Please keep in mind the original archive is only at VALITEK tape, and Ghost archive is taken from the other identical MMC using external computer.

I have SINUMERIK 840D, MMC 103; 6FC5210-0DA20-1AA0 this version still have MMC with VALITEK support.

The MMC runs on WIN 3.11, but ghost archive was made out from the HDD which have been taken out of the system, connected to IDE-USB connector and cloned from Windows XP.

So basically I have a Valitek support MMC on my HDD, but Sinumerik system is not working properly when it runs up...

I will have to call to Siemens to supply me with the correct SW.

Hello All,

I got a working .gho image of Sinumerik 03.06.10 version software. I take a 2 Gb HDD, connect it to 2,5'' IDE-USB adapter, switch it to USB.

In Windows XP I run HIRENS Boot CD, format the HDD, check for errors, start the Ghost 32, restore image file to HDD.

Until here everything looks ok, and then I take my HDD, connect it to MMC. Hard disk is detected, BIOS detects the HDD, SINUMERIK runs, but with errors (for one of them, see enclosed photos).

I am obviously doing something wrong. But I don't know what... Could be Windows XP is making some damage to .gho file. I was trying to start Ghost from dos but I can't start my IDE-USB adapter to work... I also believe this is not HDD fault, because I have tried with several different HHD’s.

I don't really know what more I can do... Getting desperate here...

Any ideas, anyone...
