Modbus TCP between CPU1516 (client) and Schneider TSX57 (server)

Hi everyone,

I have to establish a Modbus TCP communication between a SIEMENS CPU1516 as a client, and a SCHNEIDER TSX57 3634 as a server.

According to what I read on several websites, when the Schneider TSX57 acts as a client, things seem pretty straightforward : nothing to program, only configuring the I/O scanning is needed.

But what if the TSX57 acts as a server ?

I am not worried about the Siemens side, as I downloaded a tutorial Modbus TCP between two CPU1500, but what about the Schneider ? Is it still only I/O scanning, or do I have to write some code ?

as I'm not familiar with Schneider, I expect due your question for programming this device as controller. Also if it will be some other kind of device, this question probably belongs to Schneider forum. In my opinion you must also programm that controller.

Modbus is very well implemented on Schneider, so when the TSX57 (controler) acts as a client, there nothing to program, you just have to configure the data table and the IP address of the server. I wonder if that's the same the other way around...

Maybe a Siemens expert in this forum has already done something similar, but you're right, I will try to contact the Schneider hotline.

I just called Schneider Hotline, and according to them, it doesn't matter whether the Schneider PLC acts as a client or server, the job is the same : configuration of the data exchange table, IP address, and that's pretty much everything we need from the TSX57 side. Unfortunatly, the Siemens side is a bit more complex, but there is a very good tutorial available on the Siemens support...

I will post a message after the set up & tests to confirm that...

My case was between a S7-1500 (client) and a Schneider TSX57 CPU (server). From the Schneider side, there is nothing to do (not even I/O scanning). Everything has to be made on the Siemens side : follow the tutorial, and be careful to the following parameters of the MB_CLIENT block :

Ex 1 : write 6 registers to %MW1720
MB_MODE = 1
MB_DATA_ADDR = 41721 (40001 + 1720)
MB_DATA_LEN = 6
MB_DATA_PTR = Array[0..5] of Word

Ex 2 : read 3 registers from %MW1710
MB_MODE = 0
MB_DATA_ADDR = 41711 (40001 + 1710)
MB_DATA_LEN = 3
MB_DATA_PTR = Array[0..2] of Word

The parameter CONNECT contains all the parameters for the communication. Here are the ones you have to care about :
InterfaceId = corresponds to the Ethernet port ID you use
ID = one different ID per MB_CLIENT block
ConnectionType = always 11
ActiveEstablished = True
RemoteAddress = contains the IP address of the remote controler
RemotePort = 502
LocalPort = 0
