After receiving this key I have installed into the CPU. I am still getting Event ID: 16#A090 for Registraion key missing or wrong key Does anyone know what could be the reason for this error even after adding Registraion key?

Dear All,

My project contains Modbus TCP communications. So I have sent mail to Siemens for the Registraion key. After receiving this key I have installed into the CPU.

I am still getting Event ID: 16#A090 for Registraion key missing or wrong key

Does anyone know what could be the reason for this error even after adding Registraion key?

Pl Check out this FAQ :

Why is the status value A090 (hex) output for Modbus TCP although you have entered the correct license?

The above FAQ give you a set of common mistakes that cause the license not getting recognised.

Hello As per the FAQ FC 10 is requiredfor the following products and versions: S7 OpenMODBUS/TCP (V4.0 and V4.1) S7 OpenMODBUS/TCP PN-CPU (V2.0, V2.1, V2.2, V2.3 and V2.4) SIMATIC Modbus/TCP RED V2 (V2.0) However not needed for the following versions : SIMATIC Modbus/TCP SENTRON PAC SIMATIC Modbus/TCP PN CPU Redundant. Which version / variant of Modbus TCP library are you using ? You should check out the other reasons also if these are applicable for your installation. Cheers Navnag

Dear All,

I got the solution for this issue.

The license DB has wrong registrantion key in actual value. As this DB has only one string and we couldn't monitor the string data type, I was not able to find this untill I checked in the VAT table.

I have monitored the value in VAT table in the form of char data type (total 5 number). I found that the registaration key was different (my previous project key), so I have changed and modified from the VAT table.

And the error is gone..

Hmm... This is the 2nd point required to be checked as per the original FAQ posted by me.

You have entered the license key only in the Data View of the license data block.

If the license key is entered in the Data View of the license data block, this is overwritten with the initial value when the CPU is restarted. Therefore, you must enter the license key as the initial value in the Declaration View. Then the license key can be initialized in the Data View.

You need to enter the key in the Declaration view and then Initialise the data block to copy the same to actual value.

Any way .. good that you finally found the problem.

I purchased the license from siemens. Checked all the items as per the FAQs, but still no result. The fault does not go away. Any help would be highly appreciated. Many thanks.

Still if the problem persists, you should check : a) Check if the if IDENT Code andActivation codes that you provided match the IDENT Code ,and activation code in the PLC. b)You can use the library only in the CPU for which you provided the IDENT code. Separate Activation code is needed for each CPU. Hope this helps Cheers Navnag
