Some points regarding your questions: 1- A redundant system in main rack and I/O terminals should be designed in a manner that loss of a single module doesn't shut down the plant. 2-Failure of any module can be detected in software both in PCS 7 and STEP 7.You need to change any faulty module immediately after failure to avoid loss of toatal redundancy. 3-Mean time between failure(MTBF) of modules used in S7-400H systems can be found in THIS manual and this FAQ.More points regarding maintenance can be found on page 253 of S7-400H manual. Hi ameic, The siemens products have defined characteristics regarding power, hazardous conditions. U must select hardware by taking into consideration the hazardous atmosphere in the plant. Another serious cause of failure is due to power fluctuations. Proper precautions/measures should be implemented in the panel to avoid dangers. Redundancy and hot swap-able modules can prevent production loss. |
