monitoring PQW &PIW

hazem Bronze Member Joined: 2/15/2010 Last visit: 9/12/2021 Posts: 323 Rating: (6)	Dear, i was monitoring PQW .according to Siemens manual i made variable table and i wrote number of required pqw and i change format from hex to binary and i start with 00100000 tell reach 1111111111111 and every step made activate modify values and i measured reference from mv to 7 volts with 14's so i checked that peripheral is ok but why we monitored it xx mark appear it says not possible why not possible it should read its value and i want to ask how can i check analog input PIW ? or done for PQW? If you want to monitor PQW just extend the size of process image area of CPU to cover that PQW and in variable table just right QW number. Regards,

Regards, Dear hazem To extend the size of process image , you be sure the CPU supports this option.To do so, you should go to H.W config CPU's properties-->cycle,clock memory--> and change size of process-image input area or process-image output area. Also check the attachment. Only relevant for CPU with a variable size of the process image. · Set the size of the process image (in bytes) here. The range of the process image always starts with input or output byte 0. In the case of S7-300-CPUs that support this function, there are some special considerations concerning the access to the process image area. For more information on these special issues, please refer to the documentation for the CPU. The reason of peripheral addressing is fully discussed here: Where and when do you need peripheral addressing? "Peripheral addressing" The process image often does not comprise the whole I/O address area of the CPU. So, for example, CPU315-2DP (6ES7315-2EG10-0AB0) has a total I/O address area of max. 2048 bytes of inputs/outputs, but only a fixed process image of 128 bytes. If I/O address areas of a module are outside the process image, you must access these areas via "Peripheral addressing". The peripheral addresses are accessed immediately after addressing the addresses in the user program. Thus with "Peripheral addressing" it is always ensured that the actual value is read in immediately or an output is implemented immediately.
