MPI with TIA Portal

Well communication in WinCC Via MPI is quite simple to say.

As others said check the Set PG/PC Interface in the Control Panel of the Windows OS.

Select the PC Adapter MPI. After the Selecting, Select the Property Button on the R Side.

In that check the Set Pg/PC is master on the bus. Set the Bus speed to 187.5 Kpbs and Station address as 0-31. and Highest Address as 31.

Other Setting remain Same.

In WinCC In the S7 protocol Suite, If you have intergrated the WINCC in the Step7 Project, Then there is no problem as you have compile to create the S7 protocol suite. Or create it manually in WinCC

Then In MPI section, Create a Controller Name, with Setting as controller address, Slot no etc.

Then in the MPI Connection Right Click & Select System Parameter , In that Unit tab will have WInCC Connection, Select the USB type for communication with WInCC.

Is this also possible on TIA Portal (PC station to PLC communication via USB)?

It seems the only option I'm seeing on the "Communication Modules" is Profinet/Ethernet, Profibus, and WinAC communication. 

Is there any other way it could work just as the WinCC?

Well i do not think MPI is  possible in TIA. See the TIA is based on the new concept and promotion  of Profinet and Profibus communication.

I do not think MPI shall be available in TIA as you have indicated.

WinCC and MPI and TIA is possible, no problem.
you can use a CP5711 in WinCC and connect it to a MPI Network then the CP automatic switch to MPI insteed of PROFIBUS.

The problem is your Adapter. The PC Adapter USB (the old one and the new A2) are not implemented and specified  to use in a WinCC RT Pc-Station, so you can't use the adapter in this case.

If you need a USB adapter and WinCC RT Station then you must update to the USB Adapter CP5711 which is specified and released for this usecase.

A direct USB conection between PLC and PC Station is not possible because there is no S7 PLC with a USB Interface available
