Hi Sowma, A named connection is a channel unit and are setup as a symbolic connection name in Step7-Netpro, which offers advantages: - Less error because you can configure a name instead of an IP address - If a module is replaced, named connections will make sure you don't have to change the netpro configuration. WinCC can thus access redundant and non-redundant connection via a symbolic connection name. The symbolic connections are required, for e.g., for high availability communication using S7-400 PLC in connection with redundancy in H/F systems. The connection names, connection parameters and the application names are stored in a database (*.XDB). This databased is automatically stored by the PLC/OS Engineering Tool "Mapper" in the corresponding WinCC project directory. When you have configured a named connection, you can compile your OS through the named connections. In WinCC (your OS server), tags are created under the "SIMATIC S7 PROTOCOL SUITE" according to your selected interface (like Industrial Ethernet or MPI). I hope this answers your question! |

Well, The blocks you mention are placed in your CFC charts. You have to fill in some parameters like ID (local ID of the station), R_ID (which is the connection ID) and the length of the DB you are using. See the following link for an example: BSend_BRecieve |
