Need absolute address but DB is symbolic?

What is the best way to do this? I think to create absolute DB and then copy whole to symbolic DB? So, absolute-> MOVE instruction ->symbolic All logic stay same...

So, absolute-> MOVE instruction ->symbolic All logic stay same... Hello Milosh, Which version of TIA Portal are you using? If you are using TIA Portal v12, it is more easy. In most cases, you will have to recompile and load the program after block access has been converted. Procedure To set the block access, proceed as follows: 1. Open the "Program blocks" folder in the project tree. 2. Right-click on the block whose block access you want to change. 3. Select the "Properties" command in the shortcut menu.The properties dialog box of the block opens. 4. Click "Attributes" in the area navigation. 5. Enable or disable the "Optimized block access" option. 6. Confirm your entries with "OK". For more info on this, check Basics of block access and Setting up block access. Let know if you are not using TIA Portal v12.

According to the latest documentation for s7-1500, absolute addressing is not as fast as symbolic since the s7-1200/1500 PLCs are designed to use symbolic addressing natively. To use absolute addressing they have to switch between big/little endian for every DB access. For symbolic, it is a quick lookup and data is available. For S7-300/400, I believe absolute addressing is faster than symbolic since they were designed with absolute addressing in mind, so they have to work to switch things around (big/little endian) for symbolic addressing. Since you did not specify platform, I gave both answers.

I done the following thing: 1. create absolute DB (name : parameters1_1 DB[2]) 2. copy all tags from symbolic DB (name : parameters_1 DB[1]) to absolute DB 3. after coping, delete symbolic DB 4. rename absolute DB to parameters_1 and compile... 5. change in properties number of DB (DB2 to DB1) All tags stay in program but with address...HMI (weintek) works good... Use WinCC Flex with S7300/400 communication driver, and everything work very good.

In that method you can change the symbolic DB to an absolute DB without creating a new one. I can share it if anyone is interested.

You can right click over the symbolic DB in TIA Portal v11. Choose the copy as text option and paste it in notepad. You may get a code similar as shown below based on your DB. [code] DATA_BLOCK "DB1" { S7_Optimized_Access := 'TRUE' } VERSION : 0.1 NON_RETAIN STRUCT val1 : Bool; val2 : Bool; END_STRUCT; BEGIN END_DATA_BLOCK [/code] Change the { S7_Optimized_Access := 'TRUE' } as { S7_Optimized_Access := 'FALSE' } Now your code should look like this. [code] DATA_BLOCK "DB1" { S7_Optimized_Access := 'FALSE' } VERSION : 0.1 NON_RETAIN STRUCT val1 : Bool; val2 : Bool; END_STRUCT; BEGIN END_DATA_BLOCK [/code] Save the codefrom notepad with .SCL not .TXT Delete the DB now. Goto External Source Files and chosse add new external file option.Locate this source file and your SCL source file will be added into it. Right click on the source file so that your same DB is generated again with absolute addresses. That's the reason TIA Portal v12 is more easier in a click to swap optimized DB / absolute DB.
