New balancing system with SIWAREX U modules

jirimatus Posts: 53 Rating: (2)	Bon jour / hello I am going to install new balancing system, which consists of 3 weighing cells and I would like to use SIVAREX U modules, since we already have these on similar aplications in our factory. I use Huntleigh Tedea 240 cells http://www.vishaypg.com/docs/12030/240.pdf I've never installed SIWAREX, so I have some "newbie" questions. 1) I saw, that SIWAREX U production is discontinued... so maybe I should choose another type? what would you recommend ? 2) Can I place the module in the S7 300 rack which is not main rack, and to PLC rack is connected via CP360/361 modules ? 3) The length of signal cable is really not important ? (my case = 10m) 4) And do you thing that its possible to "physicly recalibrate" the Tedea cells from 0-7000g to 0-3000g ? Or I have to buy new ? Thank you very very much for any answer. Jiri.

ABenno Posts: 206 Rating: (22)	Hi Jiri, to your questions. 1. The produktion of the Siwarex U is not discontinued, the only a full compatible successor. It is also colles Siwarex U with a new orderr no. 7MH4950-*. Have a look to the Siwarex homepage www.siwarex.com. 2. Yes, ist is a S7-300 module. You can use it without restrictions. 3. The lenght of the cable can be up to 500m. Watch for EMC. http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/23923799 4. Itis not passoble to "physicaly recalibrate" a load cell. You have to look at the data if the nominal load of the load cell matches to your needs. Anyway the Tedea 240 loadcells are single point load cells, these cells should be only used as single cells. If you have an application with more load cells you should use different cells. Regards ABenno

But I've googled, that there exists 7MH4 950-2AA01 modul. So I will order this one with the configuration package 7MH4 950-1AK01. Do you think, I can use this package for configure the old 7MH4 601-1BA01 modules ? (we have some at the plant) Thanks a lot. J.

ABenno Posts: 206 Rating: (22)	Hello Jiri, there are two types of Siwarex U: The 7MH4950-1AA01 with one channel, for one scale and the 7MH4950-2AA01 with two cahnnels, for two scales. The best would be to by the new configuration package, because of the new Siwatool and integration in the HW-Catalogue. It is also possible to use the old configuration package, but you only have the old Siwatool, that is also working with the new modules and the old integration of the old modules.
