Hi, all you need to connect to a CU320 is a Profibus cable (as you already have a field PG) or a null-modem serial cable. The starter software can be downloaded free fromHERE. Changing a drive does not involve the memory card, BUT, the comparison quality of the components shown in the Topology tab should be set to Medium, Low or Minimum, NOT High. If it is set to High, then the system will detect a different serial number of the new drive and a fault will be generated. Regards, Graeme

Thanks for the help. I had already downloaded the files for the starter. What's the difference in having the free version or having one with a key code? And if I purchase the one with the key code, does it support updates? We haven't powered up anything yet, so I'll have to get into some to get more questions hahaha. Thanks again. |

Hi, Starter IS the free software, that is fully supported with upgradeable SSP's (Service and Support Packages). For licensing reasons, we recommend that you have a STARTER license certificate (any version). I do not know why this is necessary, but don't worry, Starter is still free to use and to copy. Simotion Scout on the other hand which does require a key license, but also includes the Starter functionality, but you only need this software if you are using Simotion devices or S7-Technology PLC's. Cheers, Graeme |
