Number of siprotec in Profibus DP link

At the moment we have 6 Siprotec on each Profibus DP link and we are facing problems. They are communicating to much information and collapsing the link. Could you please advise on which is the maximum number of Siprotec that we can connect into one DP link and if there is any way of reducing the information that they are communicating? Dynamart Regular Member Joined: 8/8/2011 Last visit: 8/19/2024 Posts: 6 Rating: (1)	You can have 31 devices on a Profibussegment, but the data per slave is limited to 244 bytes input and 244 bytes output. You could check to see that your Siprotecs are not exceeding this limit.

Thanks for your help! Every Profibus network can have upto 126 devices ( Each segment ( Seperated by repeaters ) can have upto 31 slaves ). However there are several factors limiting the actual no of devices ( Which may be much lower than these absolute limits ): a) Amount of Data Transfer per device ( Depends upon the Communication profile selected ) - Pl see attachment for details. b)Max I/O area limit of the CPU ( Depends on the CPU Type ) Pl postyour Configuration details here so that exact cause of the problem is determined.
