I have a RF615R device and I can make it scan and read tags using the web management interface. However, when trying OPC UA I only can see the result of the last scans, but scan or scan-start actions don't work. I've tried it using python, an opcua browser and the app at https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/us/en/view/109769038 In all the cases the reader blinks in red and I get error 17 from https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/mdm/109973678?c=122868449419&lc=es-NI
I'm using firmware 4.2 , connection with the opc ua is happening without any problem, both in anonymous or using certificates and access credentials. Using opc ua, I can read info on the last tag read, but I can't make the device scan tags . I only can make it scan tags using the web management interface. This is what I can see in the logbook:
and this in the service log:
Any ideas of what can be wrong of I can be missing?

According the logbook entries, it seems, that the read point is always in scanning mode. It is not possible to call Scan or ScanStart on a read point which is always in scanning mode. Please try the following steps: 1) Call ScanStop first and then try to call Scan or ScanStart. 2) If this does not help, have a look at the configuration of the device in WBM and ensure, that there is no trigger configured to the read point. If there is a trigger please remove it and load the changed configuration. Then try calling of Scan or ScanStart again. Hope this helps. |

If you want OPC to control the reader, the 'parallel' option needs to be deactivated. |

Thanks so much, that solved it. According to https://support.industry.siemens.com/forum/es/en/posts/rf680r-opcua-communication-with-kepware/328947/?page=0&pageSize=10 I understood it was the opposite: parallel meant you want to work in parallel . Great to know it's not that way. José |
