OS Download Changes not possible

Testermax Posts: 159 Rating: (3)	Hello! PCS 7 v7.0 sp3, one OS, one Clien and one ES\OS client. I changed some DBs and added the S7_m_c attribute to them. Then I created a simple CFC. Compiled and downloaded the whole Program to the PLC, but did only a compile changes on OS. I then changed one picture in pictue editor and wanted to download this new picture to OS. But with these changes I lost the download changes possibilities. This is probably no problem if you have red. OS. But we have only 1 OS server, and I really dont want to leave runtime and perform a full download. This have happened before and I couldnt find a good reason why (no changes in the WinCC explorer which can lead to loss of Deltadownload etc etc..) So my question is, How can I prevent loosing the download changes to OS in my PCS 7 v7.0 SP3 setup? I have read the faqs and other posts but cant figure out what have triggered my problem...

Hello Testermax, When in Picture Tree Manager Options "Recalculate the group display hierarchie completly while saving" is selected and "Delta Save" is disabled, there is no support for OS online DeltaLoading. "Delta Save" (selected) is enough. Regards

Testermax Posts: 159 Rating: (3)	Hello romeo291! The reason is that manually copying is way more work than just download. I believe the problem isnt in the pdl change but when I compiled the OS. Good tip but it wouldnt solve my problem Im afraid. Im trying to isolate every change that results in loss of delta download.

chombane Experienced Member Joined: 2/28/2010 Last visit: 9/30/2024 Posts: 55 Rating: (0)	Go to the Simatic Shell on ES, click on ES in the simatic shell, Object properties, Settings, click on the Network card for terminal bus or high light it and then click OK, i am sure it will work.

So better doesn't copy .PDL like usual operation. Did you never put in runtime OS on the ES station? reagards

Testermax Posts: 159 Rating: (3)	Hello CBo! No I did never activate OS project on the ES (only OS simulation). What I miss is a list of which changes in the OS project that requires a full download, so that next time I do changes I know when to expect a full download (and shutdown of RT)

Hal Limmer Experienced Member Joined: 4/17/2007 Last visit: 7/26/2024 Posts: 47 Rating: (1)	Testermax, I have found it confusing myself, sometimes a simple change requires a full download and sometimes I have found adding blocks, alarm messages and block icons don't. What I have noticed is that if you do a archive before you make these changes it seems to allow more things to be done in a delta download, no real fact to back this up, but do you do an archive before you make changes? If you ever figure out a complete list of what makes you do a complete download please pass it along. We have a redundant systems so it isn't a big deal, but I understand where you are coming from. Dear Testermax, Modification of attributesof shared DB variables will not affect Delta download, but modification of any attributes of instance DB's will be FATAL, to Delta Download to OS. This is because the Structure tags created in OS for these Blocks are according to the predefined attributes in the function blocks. Any change requires that these tags to be deleted and the new structure tags to be created afresh. Hope this helps
