Hi Guys,

My client has cable for connecting PC to S7-200 - 6ES7901-3DB30-0XA0. While unplugging cable, he accidently broken off the RS plug. Now he has a problem how to connect cables that he tear off. Do You have any cabling/wiring scheme of this device to help him fix it? Best would be wire color - pin number ralation.

Another thing that would be helpful is (hardware) reset to factory setting the S7-200 PLC, but i don't think there's possibility to do so. Cause the problem is that another cable my customer posses does not support 187kbaud transfer speed that was set with the broken one. So maybe reset without connecting PC/PG would help to change transfer speed, is there any way to do that?

PC/PPI cable for RS232 interface on the PC side have a 9-Pin Sub-D connector.

The pining you can find in the S7-200 system manual in the link above..

Please note that it is RS232 from your PC to the PPI adaptor, then it gets converted to RS485 from the adaptor to the PLC. Do not connect RS232 right into the PLC in order to avoid burning the port.

The PPI cable is a simple data-driven RS232-RS485 converter, powered by the PLC.

The pin configuration for the RS232 side is:
2 - Received Data (PC listens)
3 - Transmitted Data (PC Sends)
5 - Signal Common
At the RS485 side you have to find:
1 - Shield (also PLC logic common)
2 - GND (PLC logic common)
3 - Signal B
7 - +24V power from the PLC
8 - Signal A
Baudrates are selectable between 600, 1200, 2400, 9600, 19200 and 38400.

There is a PPI adaptor, the cable from the adapter to the PC is straight thru, somebody correct me if i'm wrong.

I have a problem with my cable, but it's PC/PPI cable type. Somebody had cut 9-pin D-Type male connector (to PLC). So, i can't find it again. I just bought a new connector. Tomorrow, i'll try follow your way. Thanks!

I was wondering if there was ever a post defining the pinout by means of wire color to pin.

I have the same situation as pictured above where the connector (to the plc) has broken off completely with no reference as to which wire went to which pin.
