PCS7 And Simatic Batch OPC Server

We want to display some PCS7/Batch data on a third party SCADA system (Wonderware InTouch). It is not clear from previous posts how to achieve this. Do I require OPEN PCS7? Is this the only OPC Server available for the PCS7 suite of products? Is OPEN PCS7 supplied as standard with PCS7 or at additional cost? IF so, roughly how much? Are there other options? Any ideas are greatly appreciated. Thanks. Regards Martin.

It's good to use Open PCS7 when you have to get access to more than one station (redundant system or several OS); in this case it possible to use a PC Station configured with SPOSA Application (usually PCS7 multicliet client and OPC server in same time). Your other SCADA can access to every data into your plant by SPOSA station by OPC Server-client tecnology. hope can help a lil regards

Check the version if PCS 7, if lower than V7.0 (e.g. V6.1) then you only have option "A"2. If higher than V6.1 (V7.0 or higher) then you have three options, the expected performance and system functionality are indications only.A. Use the build-in OPC Servers of the PCS 7 OS Servers/Single Stations or Clients, no cost to you (part of the product)- Works on all system Operator Stations (Server, Single station, client)- Recommended to limit to < 1000 variables, or use dedicated OS Client (not used for operator control) for higher loads- OPC Server will shutdown during full download of a Server/Single station or Client, this will occur infrequently but can not always be avoided (PCS 7 retains avaialbility with redundant OS Servers/Single Stations)- If connecting to redundant OS Server or Single Station your OPC Client must manage redundancy (or will loose connectivity during single failure)B. Open PCS 7, requires PCS 7 V7.0 or higher, version that runs on the same PC as(but is not dependent on) an OS Client. Marginal cost, (appr. $1500) flat fee for unlimited system access(license is relatively cheap because combined with (licensed) OS Client on same PC)- requires Client Server architecture- When running on the same PC as an OS client, recommend < 5000 variables- No shutdown when OS Client is de-activated (will shutdown if PC is rebooted, very rare occurence)- Seamless switchover to redundant OS Servers- Can be implemented multiple times on a system providing redundant access to external OPC Client- Offers OPC DA, HDA, AE and OLE-DB for alarms and historical dataC.Open PCS 7 stand-alone, somewhat more expensive ($4400) license of the same product as under "B"- Runs without OS Client on the same PC- Large amounts of data, 5000 and upwards to let's say 20,000- Same features as "B" Thanks for all your help everyone.
