pcs7 for control

ee5 Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	hi, i am currently using pcs7 system for process control (the system is already running). i am looking for a manual for control applcations using the system. i am not currently concerned with programming, just need a manual that explains the working of the system for control and possible options for a control engineer. just the name/number of the manual suffices,any otherhelp is alsowelcome.

ee5 Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	thank you bob i have so much now to ponder, and i am still seeing through it to be specific, actually i am trying to see whether its possible to change the scan time of the system, and if its possible to apply any other control strategy except pid. i am a little.. new..you know.

Hi, changing the scan time of a specific task is easy. The conrol logic in PCS 7 is placed by means of "blocks" in so called CFC charts. These blocks are placed in so called "runtime groups" where you can define the sequence in wich they are operated. The standard in PCS 7 is to operate the program in "Cyclic OBs". These cyclic OBs are containers for runtime groups wich are called by a watchdog. The standard cyclic OB is OB35 wich is called every 100 ms. To change the scan time you just have to move the desired programm part (maybe the controller) to a OB wich is called faster. The fastest OB is called every 10ms. Then you have to compile your program and download it to the system. Look up this terms in the documentation for Engineering station, this should provide a lot of needed informations to you. Of course you can apply other control strategys. For instance you could apply a fuzzy closed loop controller....The system isn't limited to PID, you can programm whatever you want. But to be honest, I'm not so used with closed loop controllers.
