PCS7 Migration from V6.0 to V7.1 SP1.. please help me...

This is only needed if you want to use V6 and V7 driver blocks on the same engineering station. In e.g. You have AS01 with V6 driver blocks and AS02 with V7 driver blocks...within on AS you can use only driver blocks from one version. If your PCS7 V7.1 PC is only for the upgrade procedure and should not be used for other PCS7 V7.1 projects , you could leave this step out.

As far as I know there is no download of any PCS7-Software possible. But you could have a look at the DVD of PCS7 V8.1. I think (actually I don't have a DVD-set with me, so I can't look for you) on DVD 2 in the folder "Additional_Products" you could find the V6 libraries. Maybe you could not run the setup on your PCS7 V7.1 Engineering PC because you have WinXP on this but the setup is for Win7. But remember; You could also leave this step now in V7.1 and care about in V8.1 where you are able to install the V6 library.

If there is no V6 library on the V8.1 DVDs you could use the V7 library in V8.1. I am 100% sure that you will find the 7.1 Library on the V8.1 DVDs. But in that case you need to update the driver blocks in the project like I explained in my previous post under option 2.

Honestly said; You have all you need for updating the driver blocks to V7 on your actual ES. You are just some clicks away from finish it by the simple procedure from option 2...

Also if i am done with the steps you said, i will be able to download my AS part in CPUs and OS part in OS Server after migration. That is enough for upgrading the software only?

My own upgrade expierence is to long ago and I can't remenber all details. So, sorry, but I can't read the complete manual for you and guarantee anything. It will be solely your responsibility to read and follow the documentation.

Anyhow, if you come to a solution it would be nice to share it here.

-I adjust the charts to adap format of V8.1 and i replace the DRIVE70 block type to DRIVE80 in my master data library ( as mentioned by you in option 2.

-then i update the charts as mentioned by you in your option 2 and OS migration of the project.

The non APL-Blocks are only available up to the coresponding libraries PCS7BASISLIBRARY_7.1+SP3+Upd10 and PCS7LIBRARY_7.1+SP3+Upd3

There is no non APL-Library with driver blocks in version 8.x available. So there is no possibility to update the driver blocks by 'Update Block Types' (like explained in option 2) to driver blocks of version 8. Only an update to driver blocks of version 7 is possible by 'Update Block Types' in your case.

If you want to use drivers of version 8, there are only APL-drivers available. See what I wrote in my 2nd post:

If you think about to upgrade the driver blocks to the APL-Drivers of 8.1 you should know that you will not be able to replace them like described in option 2 because the APL-Drivers have a complete new range of FB-numbers. So changing to APL-Drivers would mean to open every CFC with an driver and manually replace an old driver by a new APL-Driver. This must be done than for all drivers of one CPU.Other blocks can be mixed in one CPU (APL and non APL) but not the driver blocks. For one CPU you must decide to use APL-Driver or non APL-Driver.

But because you want to update without utilization of new functions, I guess you want to have least work. So go ahead to PCS7 V8.1 and install the above mentioned libraries (PCS7BASISLIBRARY_7.1+SP3+Upd10 and PCS7LIBRARY_7.1+SP3+Upd3) additionally to PCS7 V8.1. These libraries you can still find on the DVD 2 in the folder 'Additional_Products'. I saw now that there is no V6 library available on the V8.1 DVDs. So if you not want to have the work of replacing any blocks manually in CFC, this is your only choice possible.

I think it's no good idea to update only some blocks from V6 to V7 libraries, so you should copy all blocks from this two libraries to your master data library (when you are on V8.1). Then use 'Update Block Types' like explained in option 2. Only blocks wich are used in your program will be updated. Be aware that it is very likely that you have to download the updated program in Stop-Mode of CPU. Additionally you have to install also PCS7FACEPLATES_V7.1+SP3. This library you have to install also on all Operator Stations. After installing this library on ES you have to run the OS Project Editor in each OS-project. Let the editor overwrite the system pictures (and faceplates) of the OS-projects.

I am just telling the facts, but I can't change them...What you request is, from my point of view, simply impossible...

Once I heard that Siemens sells packages of old PCS7 versions for such upgrade purposes, you could ask the PCS7 Consultant/Promoter for your region. But I don't know if it is true or not. Maybe you could find the contact person by this side and simply ask for.

Honestly said, I can't understand why you not just try the few steps needed to upgrade it to V7 blocks. If you get stuck somewhere we could help you....but not even trying, I can't understand...

And yes, like I told you, there is a possibility to go to version 8 without any installation of an old library. Replace old drivers by new V8-APL drivers manually in each CFC. The block CH_DI has to be replaced by Pcs7DiIn, a CH_DO by Pcs7DiOu, a CH_AI by Pcs7AnIn and a CH_AO by Pcs7AnOu. A dilligent but routine piece of work......But I guess you want this work even less. But without not even want to have little work - no progress.

The job could be so nice, if there wouldn't be all the work....

Now we get a little bit further, because you started - get stuck - and I can help you

Did you perform the step 'Update Block types' like explained in 'option 2'? Remember, just copying the new blocks to the master data library is not enough... but this is not the only issue..

See, the driver system consits of two parts. The first part are the driver blocks wich the user places in user created CFCs. There are the blocks CH_DI, CH_DO, CH_AI and CH_AO in example wich you use in your program. In Your case theese blocks are part of the library 'PCS7LIBRARY_xx...'. 

Now the 2nd part comes; When you now compile the CFCs with "Generate Module Drivers" the system generates plenty charts in the chart folder beginning with an @. Theese charts are for diagnosis of the hardware and the above mentioned driver blocks are interconnected to blocks of theese charts. The blocks used in those @Charts come from the library 'PCS7BASISLIBRARY_xx..'.

So the message "cannot compile from multiple libraries" is absolute comprehensible because the blocks from the two different parts must match to each other, but actually the first part is on V7 blocks and 2nd part is on V6 blocks in your project.

Guess what you have to do now    !

Maybe you get a clue now why I said in a previous post you should install theese two libraries and update blocks from theese two libraries...

Anyhow, I still would recommend not only to update the driver blocks...
