Hello SIOS Forum Community, We often receive enquiries about how to achieve smoother control behaviour either between the setpoint source and the setpoint input of the PID controller or between the controller output and the actuator input when using PID control with a SIMATIC S7-1200 or SIMATIC S7-1500. It is precisely for these applications that the so-called "RampFunction" can be used. The RampFunction instruction limits the rate of change of a signal. A signal jump at the input is output as a ramp function of the output value, e.g. to achieve a smoother guiding behaviour without influencing the disturbance behaviour. The RampFunction instruction can be used with S7-1500 CPU from firmware 2.0 and S7-1200 CPU from firmware 4.2. Further information can be found in the TIA Portal help under the keyword "RampFunction" and in the manual SIMATIC S7-1200, S7-1500 PID Control Another contribution here in the forum is also on the subject of PID controller in S7-1200 and S7-1500 available.
