PLC - DeltaV

r_coakley Posts: 16 Rating: (0)	I set up a distributed network using a Siemens s7 300 set up using profibus. Through help and information obtained here i got it all going. I now want to be able to communicate via DeltaV. I have bought a DP/DP Coupler. It is installed and the addresses as far as i can tell by following the manual are correct. The addr was set to manual and the addresses set to each network with the dil switch i matched in step 7. The gsd file was also uploaded to the deltav system. I know that network 1 and network 2 have to have the opposite to eachother when being set up in the slots, i.e. Network 1 Slot 1 : 2 bytes out put Network 2 Slot 1 : 2 bytes input I am stumped at this part and dont know what im doing and cant really follow what i see as it isnt step by step kind of guides. I omly have two digital values and two analog values from instruments in the network that need to be sent but i dont know how to go about it. Any help or links would be hugely hugely appreciated, Regards Ruaidhri

r_coakley Posts: 16 Rating: (0)	Thank you for the reply. I read through this and a number of similar threads but the problem i have is that i dont understand how to use certain bytes to transfer certain data. Ive it set up to that point and am completely stumped.

dchartier Grandmaster-Expert Joined: 9/27/2006 Last visit: 10/5/2024 Posts: 12283 Rating: (2685)	Hello Ruaidhri; Look again at TIBI68's link; the last posting associates each data exchange element to an addess in the S7 ot the DeltaV.You must do the same for yiur system. In the S7 configuration you have used a start address for your DP-CP coupler network. You have done the same in the DeltaV. So whatever youcopy to the first Output (byte, word, dword)of the S7 (in the S7 program) will be written to the first Input (byte, word, dword) of the DeltaV. Example: output byte 256 on the S7 associated to input byte 800 on the DeltaV. Copy the value 24 to address PQB256 in the S7 program. On the DeltaV side read byte 800 (I don't know the format used in DeltaV, sorry). You should find the value 24. Same thing works in reverse for the Outputs of the DeltaV associated with Inputs of the S7. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier

r_coakley Posts: 16 Rating: (0)	Thank you for that. Ok think i get it now. The bytes just have to do with the actual transfer bytes so you can play around until you have enough to transfer. I wont be able to access the software until monday but as far as the addresses. How do i assign my values to the addresses. Regards

dchartier Grandmaster-Expert Joined: 9/27/2006 Last visit: 10/5/2024 Posts: 12283 Rating: (2685)	Hello Ruaidhri; you can assign values to PQWxxx bytes either by Load & Transfer operations (Move instruction in Lad)or as the result address for an arithmetical operation, for example. One way to test the proper functionning of the comm linkwould beto use a timer (or a Clock bit) to activate a ADD_I instruction that will add a value of 1 to the value of PQW256 (output bytes 256 and 258) and check what you recieve in the corresponding input bytes at the DeltaV, for example. Ive got the DPRD_DAT and DPWR_DAT and from following the help i just really amnt getting anywhere with it. For the read i get that the LADDR is for reading the actual data that i want to send and the record is for where this is. Ive tried looking all over the internet and here for tutorials or help but cant seem to find help. I havent had alot of / any real experience with siemens and dont have anybody unfortunately to help me here so yere help is very very very much appreciated. Regards

I suggest you look at these S7-300 tutorials provided by Siemens: https://www.automation.siemens.com/mcms/sce/en/advanced_training/training_material/download_training_material/Pages/Default.aspx Modules A to E (in the right-hand column) should help you understand PLC instructions, variables, and programming blocks so you can apply them to your original project. You would understand what is meant by a Load/Transfer (or Move) instruction, or ADD_I instructions. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier

My problem however is that this need's to be done for my college project and i have no real insightful help bar here. The attached pictures are showing the set up of the two networks of the dp coupler and the addresses of the et200m's data that i want transferred. I know to ome one who has done this before it will seem very easy but unfortunately as stated i have fairly small exposure time to this package. Regards Attachment pictures.zip (158 Downloads)

r_coakley Posts: 16 Rating: (0)	OK made some progress or was atleat starting to. I inserted 1 byte output into one of the slots and was assigned address q2. Assigned Q2.0 QB100 and in ladder logic set it up to a switch so i could put 1 or 0 into this address. Inside in monitor/modify in HWConfig for this i was able to see that the values were changing. (This felt like a huge leap forward) I then used my deltav system and matched it to the address on the dp coupler, matched the baud rate etc and other relevant things so i could hopefully see an output. I then ran the two of them together and looked again in monitor/modify. As soon as i turned my siemens cpu to run i could see through monitor that the programme was being stopped nearly straight away and my bf1 light is flashing very quickly. My baud rates and addresses are correctly set so i am uncertain how to proceed from here. Ruaidhri
