Pro Tool V6.0 SP3 + WINDOWS 7

It is compattible up to WinXP SP 2, got it running with XP SP3 without any problem, so it might work with VM/XP mode in Windows 7.
If you install it from harddisk direct, install it from C:/(map), to aviod problems with long path names.

Pro Tool 6.0 SP3 was marketed in 2004 (see link below). So SP1 was even earlier....

Your only option to run in in a more recent computer  is a VWware installation with a version of Win XP operating system, for example.

ProTool 6.0 will support the following OS and Step 7 versions::

Operating Systems

As PC operating system platform for the configuration as well as the runtime software, the following operating systems are released:

• Windows 98 SE (Second Edition)
• Windows ME (Millennium Edition)
• Windows NT 4.0 SP6a or higher
• Windows 2000 SP2 or higher
• Windows XP Professional (SP1, SP2)

Supported STEP 7 Versions

All versions of ProTool V6.0 + SP3 support the STEP 7 versions 5.1 SP4 or higher, 5.2 and 5.3.

I believe the issue isn't the program its self but the installer. Here's what worked for me. 

If you are using a VM then copy the entire Pro Tool package into the VM local C:\ drive.

Locate each install / setup.exe file and one at a time right click on the file, go to properties, click on the compatibility tab, make these selections -

1) Select the - Run in Compatibility Mode box (radial).

2) in the drop down select - XP service Pack 3.

3) Run as Administrator.

4) Click on Apply then OK

5) Then launch the executable install / setup file.

The program(s) should install with no problem. Not sure how it will work as I haven't tested the install. But, it will install. 

IT IS possible to install ProTool V6+SP3 directly to Window 7 64 bit by right click Install.exe and EACH Setup.exe  and make them compatible to Windows XP SP2.

I am guessing that it will install to Windows 10 64 bit as well by doing similar.

It's true, and easy way, but the system integration isn't fully with this method.
