Problem in Downloading an old Project to a new OP170B with newer ProTool

Again thanks a lot, I connected Laptop to PLC over MPI, thanI looked at Peer Parameters and than chose MPI_1 network, than celected PLC with LCP, saved it, and after that finally project was compiled successfully, and started download, but after 10-15 sec came up error message 'could not establish connection. Please check your setting and etc..'. In diagnostic window of 'PG/PC Interface' (MPI Connection) I can read address 0, 2, 3, but not 1, which belongs to T/S. In OP. What else is still wrong? In OP. What else is still wrong? Hi, Well, you read address 0 (your PC), 2 (PLC) and 3. So how many stations are connected to MPI_1 network? I think address 3 is your OP-address You can see in control panel of OP, please change address in 1. Best regards, Wizard

Genelec Posts: 22 Rating: (0)	Hello Wizard! Yes, you are right. Address 3 it is OP. MPI_1 network connects CPU315-2, address 2 and OP. Address in OP was set to 1, PG to 0, and 'PG/PC Read' shows nodes: 0, 2, 3. But I can not establish communication to OP. Best regards Genelec

Genelec Posts: 22 Rating: (0)	Hello Wizard! Sorry for delay, I just got to PC, one more thouble emerged with another equipment. I have checked in HW : MPI addresses CPU 315 - address 2; CP 343-5 address - 3, I apologise for incorrect information, so if I assign address 1 to PG it will be 1,2,3. But now is left only to reach OP . Thanks and best regards Genelec

And you should check if the parameters are correct. So open Control panel and go to 'Transfer settings' Here should be: Channel 2 must be enabled (also remote control) Click on button advanced, select MPI and check the MPI properties. Select 'Panel is only master on the bus' MPI address is 1, timeout 10s. Baudrate 187,5 and Highest station address 31. Best regards, Wizard

Genelec Posts: 22 Rating: (0)	Hello Wizard! Thanks for information. Today after reinstallation of a serial driver the project was downloaded successfully over serial cable. But on the spot communication would not establish between OP and PLC, again back to ProTool, open PLC parameters and chose communication peer/symbol list for MPI(1), not for CPU-315-2DP(LCP) but for CP343-5----CPU-315-2DPLCP where: Peer Parameters Address-3 Expansion Slot -2 Rack-0 Cyclick Oper. - yes OP parameter Address-1 Only master saved, compiled and downloaded. Connection was establish and T/S is now in operation. Perhaps tomorrow I am going to perform the same but over MPI, as you has written. For me is now interesting, why it must be over CP343? Today I have tried to transfer project over MPI, but without success, but there is a link:http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/llisapi.dll?func=cslib.csinfo&lang=en&objid=19109408&caller=view and it states follows: PC/MPI-Adapter and USB/MPI-Adapter are not released for transfer. Yes it is correct, you cannot use a PC-adapter to transfer project Best regards, Wizard
