Dear All, Need a small clarification. My S7-300/s7-400 plc work on 24Vdc. as per my knowledge the M terminal of the plc should be instrument earth. Now what about the rack earth.of s7- 300/400 plc. It should be power earth or instrument earth..??, 1. if it is power earth than my instrument and power earth will mingle..?? 2. if it is instrument earth than weather i have to isolate the rack from the mounting sheet..?? other wise again both the earth will mingle.?? as a general practice we isolate only 400 rack, while 300 rack is directly fixed on panel mounting sheet..!! 3. What if my plc works on 230 vac ( s7-300/400) and the IM's are 24 vdc. again the issue will arise as they will be connected through profibus or Ethernet and which will again mingle the instrument and power earth. basically i follows the below rule for earthing in a control panel: 1. any instrument working on 24VDC will be instrument earth. 2, any instrument working greater then 24vdc will be power earth(mostly the 110vac or 230vac raw/ups supply) 3. signal cable shield will be instrument earth(one sided). please clarify..>?> ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
