Reading/writing OPC in CFC

Testermax Posts: 159 Rating: (3)	Hello! Im trying to figure out how I can read\write to the Matricon OPC sim server from a cfc I have made. I have made a DB which I was planning to "fill" with OPC data, and then use this in my CFC. I have also made an OPC com. driver and created groups etc in winCC. My problem now is how can I connect my DB to these Items? And is there any other ways to solve my problem? Regards

Phantom75 Posts: 2661 Rating: (279)	Hi Testermax, The Matrikon OPC client should be able to read all WinCC tags. If the OPC client wants to write to certain tags, you can create special tags either via a DB or an FB. I would recommend an FB. Please note that the OPC client can potentially write to all WinCC tags but they will get overwritten or updated by the PLC, hence you have to create special tags. Regards

I have been able to read/write to my FBs and DBs from other programs like LabView etc. but I cant figure out how to use the simulated value (lets say "Int1") from the Matrikon simulation server items in my FB. My goal is to have some live/simulated data from an OPC source like Matrikon, to dynamize my OS pictures. But as long as my DBs and FBs are available through WinCC OPC server, this is a Matrikon sim server issue.

But you have to create WinCC tags that can be "seen" by the Matrikon OPC client. And in there you have to write to these tags... Regards

Testermax Posts: 159 Rating: (3)	Hello Phantom75! I solved my problem by using a server to server bridge (LinkMaster from Kepware) and it seems like it works fair enough for my lab project. I cant find any good best practice solutiuons on how to connect WinCC OPC server (or Simatic Net OPC server) to another OPC server like Matrikon or National Instruments, except using this bridge method.
