Hello, It's not good to work at the max ratings. If you have space to install external relais i would do that, mutch easyer to replace the relais if concacts are welded together. You should place a diode over the coil anyway(anti parallel) in case of DC coils. Regards, Marcjan |

Hello. Solenoids are AC or DC ? When the solenoids are AC type, then the diodes can not be used, but you can use a Varistors. Information Link: Contact Load Erik. |

The solenoids are DC and supplied by the car battery and the only spec. I can find is " 3-Position 200psi 10mm (3/8") Orifice 40watt coil ". Under normal conditions gives the car 14vdc so my calc would be I=P/U 40/14=2.85A. Do you think 40watt is peak power or normal? And how much slower would the air valves be with an diode? Stefan |

Hello, The valves will not be slower when using a diode over the coil. The diode is needed to reduce the sparc between the relais contacts when the contactcs opens. That means the contact will live longer. Regards, Marcjan |

Hi, normally for such inductive loads the vendor offer protections for relays. This is in most cases a diod as descriped to protect the relays contacts. Regards |

Ok Does anyone have a link to that kind of diod that I need, and is it possible to find some that can be mounted on 35mm DIN rail? |

Hi borg112, you can use 1N4007 or go to Weidmuller site. |

Hello, A 1N4... diode can be placed in the solenoid connector or between the terminals on the rail. Regards, Marcjan |
