Release of TIA V14

They were aiming to do this in the first versions, day after day new products and remote I/Os are introduced but still to integrate it all in one platform need more versions

I remember now when TIA Siemens promoter guy introduced the new version TIA V11 at 2011 and he said that all these bugs will be solved in this version

 They were, just to be replaced by new ones......

I do like the fact that TIA tends to get standard communications done with the minimal amount of effort.  If I remember correctly, we used to allocate 3 days to get any network going in S5.

I do wish that, if they want to make this integrated platform, that ALL HW would be integrated, such as S120 drives.  That is one thing I find truly annoying.

Siemens has announced the launch of TIA V14 at Hannover Messe from April 25 – 29, 2016

Would request those of you who would be visiting Hannover Messe 2016 to please post here their first hand feel of the new version ( Hype vs Reality )

Let us hope against hope that V14 brings a solution to all our TIA problems.

 Switching from S5 to S7 seems like switching from MS-DOS to Windows now you receive an update to windows and SPs every now and then 

Windows XP was the first choice for more than ten years even after Microsoft discontinued supporting it but for the last ten years Microsoft introduced four operating systems:

1) Windows Vista

2) Windows 7

3) Windows 8

4)Windows 9 oh excuse me Windows 10

With all updates and SPs. 

it seems that it is a global bug

new Version, new lies... 
The switchover from Step 5 to Step 7 was much smoother and faster...

From my point of view, working for a little company and with small projects, I love Siemens TIA Portal and even more the "Old" STEP 7.

The real problems with TIA Portal are:

1- Frequent Crashes

2- Is slow, no matter how powerful the pc is

And most of all that damn windows... windows everywhere, somethis very well hidden... and the problem is that not everyody has a 50" screen or multiple screens to work... especially when You need to do an intervention somewhere and it needs to be opened on a laptop.

And I work on a 15" laptop also everyday at work...

V13 SP1 has been quite stable for me

Regarding the multiple windows issue, I strongly recommend setting up "workspaces" and really getting in the habit of frequently closing anything you do not need, worst case scenario you can always bring up the default layout from the "Window" menu

You can also double click on any editor's title bar to make expand to "full screen" and double click again to go back

TIA is consuming more time in engineering as well as in commissioning.

Even normal "NO-NC" change takes few minutes which can be obliged in few seconds.

Moreover, Step-7 is more preferable for me as I am more used to of it and also my first PLC software (Closes to my heart).
