Remote control and moniter load with MM440 ,200kw

nabeil Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	hi every one; I hope you all have good time at the chrismas we just got the MM440 200kw to drive 132kw motor that is on centrifugal pump , the application must be controled and moniterd remotly (start,stop, moniter tempareture,current and speed)from a control room that is 50m away fromwere theMM440 is installed so the problem is : 1- what part(s) do we need to accomplish that ( encoder,profibus,remote control panal with screen...etc) 2- how we connect the remote moniter 3- dose the distance (50m) is too long or it can be done ps: we got BOP and Encoder shiped with each MM440 thaks in advance

JensS Posts: 739 Rating: (55)	hello nabeil, to give the MM440 the possibility to control an encoder, you need to install a Pulse encoder evaluation module (6SE6400-0EN00-0AA0) there are two possibilities for remote control: 1 via terminal blocks 2 via field bus system; there for you have several possibilities: PROFIBUS module 6SE6400-1PB00-0AA0 DeviceNet module 6SE6400-1DN00-0AA0 CANopen module 6SE6400-1CB00-0AA0 If you are using the terminal blocks pls use external 24V supply, for the internal supply, 50m is to much load. (the set up can be done also via soft ware tool STARTER; down load http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/10804985/133100; you need to have a Connection kit for PC to inverter 6SE6400-1PC00-0AA0, or you can do it by using PROFI-Bus)

nabeil Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Dear Jens S thank you very much for your precious replay, its the MM440 itself who i want to control remotly and not the other way around(that is to start,stop and moniter the output of the MM440) from a distance due to space limitation. how to do it?(to give the MM440 the possibility to control an encoder........is not the case) still i'm confused is the distance between the MM440 unit and the control room which is about 50m would be an issue? and also rgarding the pc control method (starter software + profibus) isn't the 9 pin rs232 connecting cable has its own limitation when it comes to distance? please kindly notice that its important to moniter the (temp. current speed....etc) from the control room with digital screen like BOP or even AOP as the MM440 is installed away from where the operator stands. pleas if you could show me the method of connecting betwen the MM440 and a remote control unit like in a sckitch or setup vido it would be great all what I could get is a bluerred sckich of a connction beween a door mounting kit of BOP and the MM440 with 5m distance limitation! that alot Jens S. best regards

dchartier Grandmaster Joined: 9/27/2006 Last visit: 11/4/2024 Posts: 12293 Rating: (2690)	Hello nabeil; I hope I understand your problem correctly, that you simply want a remote operator panel, such as your BOP, but located 50 m. from the drive. In tyhis case a solution might be proposed: The BOP uses RS-232 to connect to the drive, so it will be limited by the parameters of this type of connection, even with a panel-mounting kit. The AOP, however, allows connection through RS-485 (as you can see by reading the following FAQs) so that could work: a distance of 50m will be OK, and you can control up to 31 drives over a single AOP, if need be.(each drive has its own network address, so you will connect to one at a time). nabeil Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Dear dchartier thanks alot, yes this is my problem indeed you methioned the RS-485 is ittermials 29,30in thr terminal block ? and if it is the i need to connect the encoder to the termial block 29,30 throug 50m wire long(providing 24v power supply maybe) then the AOP would be pluged in on the encoder do i get you right? please if not then where i can get the drawing to connect AOP remotly thanks alot for your kindness

You should connect the AOP on the terminal connections for RS-485 (check your commissioning guide, I don't have all details of your MM4 installation here) as shown in the first document I showed earlier. You should connect the encoder on its own cable, seperate from the AOP,from the motorback to the CPU and its counter/encoder card.If I remember well my motor control basics, distance is not as much a problem for encoder cablesas EMC induction, and power cable interference, so grounding is an issue you must take seriously (single-shielded cablesshould be grounded only at PLC side, cables with both internal and external shields should be grounded with the internal shield only at PLC side and external shield grounded at both ends). In critical cases we used Micronor MR121 series ZapFREE Encoder Cables, which use and internal fiber-optic converter to eliminate EMC annd ground loop. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier
